Prawn Dry Masala

Prawn Dry Masala, I have read in some article that prawns are rich in proteins and vitamins. And they are low in calories too. Beside all these nutritional values of prawn, myself and my husband are great fans of prawns. We just love it! We often buy prawns in our home and I used try different dishes using it. But, I don't know why I have not posted even a single recipe with Prawns :o . No issues, going forward I'll try to capture all the prawn dishes I make and post it in the site. 


This is a simple prawn masala. The time consumed to make this dish lies only in cleaning and marinating the prawns. Rest of the steps are really simple.


Prawn Dry Masala

Preparation Time : 30 Minutes | Cooking Time : 30 Minutes | Serves : 4

Ingredients
Prawns - 1/2 Kg.
Onion - 1 No.
Green Chilli - 3 No.
Curry Leaves - 2 Sprigs.
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.
Chopped Coriander Leaves - 2 to 3 tbsp.
Oil - 2 tbsp.
Salt to taste

For Marination
Prawns - 1/2 Kg.
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp.
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.
Chilli Powder - 3/4 tsp.
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp.
Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Curd - 1 tbsp.
Lemon - half
Salt to taste

Method
1. Keep all the ingredients ready to make Prawn Dry Masala.
a. Clean, de-vein and wash the prawns nicely.
b. Finely chop the onions and slit the green chilies.
2. Take the prawns in a bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned under "For Marination" section. Mix it well and set it aside for about half an hour for marination.
3. Heat one tablespoon oil in a pan, add the marinated prawns and saute it.
4. After few minutes, the prawn will start to ooze out some water. Keep stirring till all the water dries up.
Note: Do not close the pan when the prawn is cooking. Transfer the cooked prawns to another bowl or a plate.
5. In the same pan, heat another tablespoon of oil and add the onion, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute irtfor about a minute.
6. Add salt and turmeric powder. Saute till the onions turn golden brown color.
7. Add in the cooked prawns and mix it well. Roast the prawns for about 2 to 3 minutes till it becomes dry.
8. Once done, add in the chopped coriander leaves and mix it well. Switch off the flame.

Yummy Prawn Dry Masala is ready to serve. Serve it with steamed rice, rasam rice or with curd rice.


   Note:
  1. The quantity of prawns (1/2 Kg.) mentioned in the recipe is before cleaning. After cleaning, definitely, the quantity will reduce.
  2. I have made this masala little spicy. You can adjust the spice level to your taste. Either reduce the  number of green chillies or the amount of chilli powder added for marination.
