Sweet Rava Appam

Sweet Rava Appam, this is a simple and easy sweet that we can make in just half an hour if everything is ready. Some people call this as rava paniyaram. Lets keep whatever name we like, but this tastes awesome. If you see some unexpected guest, you can serve this easy rava appam. I am sure you will get very good comments on this sweet. You know why I am so confident on this because I have experienced it when I served this for my guests :) Want to try? Come on lets move on to the recipe.

Rava Sweet Appam

Preparation Time30 Minutes | Cooking Time : 30 Minutes | Serves6

Ingredients
Rava / Sooji / Semolina - 1 Cup
Maida / All Purpose Flour - 1 Cup
Sugar - 1 Cup
Cardamom - 2 No.
Banana - 1 No.
Oil for Deep Frying

Method
1. Soak the rava/sooji in water for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, drain the water and add the rava to a mixing bowl.
2. Add maida/all purpose flour and sugar to the rava/sooji.
3. Chop the banana and add it to the blender and grind it to a smooth paste.
4. Add the banana paste to the mixing bowl. Add required amount of water and mix to make a batter. The batter should be little thicker in consistency. Say, little thicker than dosa batter. Crush the cardamom and add it to the batter and mix well. Set this batter for about 15 minutes.
5. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. Take the batter in ladle or spoon and pour slowly into the hot oil. Fry on a medium flame. The appam will fluff like poori.
6. Gently flip the appam to other side and cook on both side till golden brown. Once done, drain the oil and transfer the appams to a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
Yummy Sweet Rava Appam / Paniyaram is ready to serve.

Note:
1. As I mentioned earlier, batter should be thicker than dosa batter consistency. If it is watery, when you pour in the oil the batter will spread all over and you will get a fluffy appam.
2. Always fry on medium flame else appam will not get cooked inside but will look brown in color outside.
3. You can make 3 or more appams at the same time. Since I used less oil, I did it one by one. If you use more oil to fry, you can make more appams at the same time.
