Onion Uttapam

Onion Uttapam, this is one of my favorite dish. This will be my first choice whenever I go to any vegetarian restaurant. Also, I make this often for breakfast and dinner at my home. We can make lot of variation with this uttapam like using shallots instead of onions or we can sprinkle some idly chutney powder to make it onion podi uttapam or like the one I have made here using onions, carrots and garam masala etc. But I like the one using shallots and without adding any masala. Anyways, lets move on to the recipe.

Dosa Batter - As required
Onion - 4 to 5 No.
Carrot - 2 to 3 No.
Green Chili - 2 No.
Coriander Leaves -  Few Strands
Garam Masala - 1 tsp.
Salt to taste

1. Finely chop the onions, green chilies, coriander leaves. Grate the carrot. Mix the garam masala and salt. Heat dosa tawa and grease it  with some oil.
2. Pour 2 laddle full of dosa batter and spread it to make small, thick circle. Sprinkle some chopped onion, carrot, green chili and coriander leaves.
3. Sprinkle little garam masala and salt mixture. Allow ti to cook for a minute. Flip the uttapam to other side and cook on low flame till it done. Add some oil if required. Switch off the flame once the uttapam is cooked on both sides.
Tasty Onion Uttapam is ready to serve with any chutney of your choice or with sambar.
