Vendhaya Dosai - Fenugreek Dosa

Vendhaya Dosai, this is a healthy dosa dish. Many of us usually do regular dosa for our breakfast or dinner, here is a different and healthy dosa recipe to try. The main ingredients we use to make this dosa is rice, fenugreek seeds(Vendhayam) and little cooked rice. This dosa will be soft and spongy. You will not get the taste of fenugreek bitterness, so you can go ahead and try this recipe once then definitely this will become one of your regular breakfast or dinner recipe at your home.

Idli Rice - 1 Cup
Fenugreek Seeds (Vendhayam) - 1 tbsp.
Urad Dal - 1 tbsp.
Cooked Rice - 2 tbsp.
Salt to taste

1. Add all the items mentioned under ingredients section except salt and rice into a wide bowl. Add enough water to cover the add items. Let this soak for about hours.
2. After four hours, add the soaked items to a grinder or blender and grind it to a dosa batter consistency by adding water little by little. When the batter is 3/4 done, add the cooked rice and grind it further to complete the process.
3. Add salt and mix well. Allow it to ferment overnight or minimum 8 hours.
4. Heat a dosa tawa and grease it with some oil. Pour two ladle full of batter on the tawa and spread it to make a thick dosa. (Note: Mix the batter well before making dosa)
5. Close the dosa with a lid and allow to cook until it is cooked. No need to flip the dosa to other side. (Note: To check whether the dosa is cooked or not, open the lid and touch it with you finger, you should be able to feel the softness.)
Soft and Spongy Dosa is ready to serve. Serve it with coconut milk or any chutney of your choice.
