Mushroom Chukka

Mushroom Chukka, this is one of the tasty and spicy mushroom dish. I usually make chukka dishes using chicken and mutton. But this time I tried making the same recipe using mushrooms and it turned out really good. My husband loved it and I started making this regularly at my home. Hope you will also like this as much as I did.

Mushroom - 800 gm
Onion - 3 No.
Garlic - 15 to 20 Cloves
Curry Leaves - 2 String
Green Chili - 1 No.
Red Chili Powder -  1 tsp. + 1/2 tsp.
Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp.
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp. + 1/2 tsp.
Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp.
Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Chopped Coriander Leaves - Little
Oil - 2 tbsp + 1/2 tsp.
Salt as per taste

1. Wash and clean the mushrooms. Cut the mushrooms into halves. Finely chop the onions and garlic. Wash the curry leaves and keep it ready.
2. Take a mixing bowl and add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder,salt and half teaspoon of oil. Mix well to make a thick paste. Add the mushrooms into it and mix well so that the masala is well coated on the mushrooms. Allow it to marinate for about half an hour.
3. After half an hour, heat a teaspoon of oil and add the marinated mushrooms and cook till the mushrooms are cooked and water dries up. Keep it aside.
4. Heat remaining oil in pan and add the chopped garlic, green chilies and curry leaves.
5. Saute till the garlic turns light brown color. Add chopped onions and saute till the onion turns transparent.
6. Add half teaspoon of red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, pepper powder and salt. Mix well.
7. Add the cooked mushroom and mix well. Cook on medium flame for 5 minutes. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Mushroom Chukka is ready to serve with hot steamed rice.
