Karpooravalli Kashayam

Karpooravalli Kashayam, this is a home remedy that my mom used to follow whenever we get cold or cough. I am not sure whether many know about the medicinal values of karpooravalli leaves. This is used as good home remedy for cold and cough. You can even add few leaves in the regular tea you make at home. You can even eat few fresh karpooravalli leaves when you have cold. This kashayam make wonders in curing the cough and cold. 

Karpooravalli Leaves - 10 No.
Coriander Seeds - 1 tsp.
Dry Ginger (Sukku) - 1 inch piece
Pepper Corns (Milagu)- 1 No.
Thippili (Piper Longum) - 5 No.
Palm Candy (Panakalkandu) to taste.
Water - 2 Cups

1. Crush coriander seeds, sukku, milagu and thippili to a coarse powder. Cute the leaves into small pieces.
2. Heat water in a pan and add the karpooravalli leaves and the crushed powders. Allow it to boil.
3. Let it boil till the water content reduce to one and a half cups. Switch off the flame.
Karpooravalli Kashayam is ready. Drink it warm.
